For the accommodation in HuaLien, i've chosen a backpacker instead of hotel.
Taiwan rank one of the most backpacker friendly country in Asia for me, you can find all type backpacker hostel / B&B in every part of the country and so convenience to travel around.
Hualien have so many B&B more than you imagine, after studied almost 50 over B&B, my final choice is YouZiJia (柚子家, YouZi's home) due to reasons below.
1. very cozy design and make you just feel like home.
2. only a few rooms in the building so everyone is friends and family.
3. super cute host's dog name SanKiYa (clothe hanger), because of her hanger-look-alike birthmark at the back.
4. close to beach, just one street behind.
5. 100% POSITIVE reviews.
6. Close to everything that you need yet quiet environment.
7. A LOTS of comics and CD in every corners of the house (scroll down for picha) and you can use it free within your stay. Of course, mostly mandarin la.
And YouZiJia has turn out to become the best B&B that i had ever stayed with.
The host, XiaoLuo (小罗, the husband)& YouZi (柚子, the wife)were so friendly and they really treat you like friends who pay their visit, they little daughter QingZi (晴子)is so adorable too! Not to mention SanKiya!
We use XiaoLuo service to visit village nearby and the famous Taroko National Park and that was feel like we were friends and went for a day trip.
Alright lets see where is YouZiJia.
red: the train station blue: YouZiJia green: the golden triangle of HuaLien, you can get everything here. |
So we took express train from Taipei to Hualien, and that took us 3 hours to reach the station.
Note that: YouZiJia doesn't provide free pick up service, i mean, its a B&B but not a hotel.
Anyway, we took a taxi to the place, and that took us 10 to 15 minuts, cost us NTW165 (as in May 2013).
You can move around with bicycles provided by YouZiJia (its free!), or you just want a very relax staycation and not planning to go any further, everything you need is just within 10 minutes walking distance.
And remember to let the cab drive slow or you will miss it.
not so obvious sign. |
dinning corner once you get into the 4 floors building. |
fresh flower an information on the table. |
the host is a backpacker too, if you were too i'm sure you have lots of command topic with them. |
thank you cards from all the guests. Eventually they has become friend. |
staircase to the first floor. |
every deco is a good photos material. |
this too! |
Beware of steeps stair case and have no lift in this building! |
just like you home! |
pic from 2nd floor to the first floor. |
ta-da! our room! OMG this is soooooooooooooooo cozy! |
super comfortable bed and of course, comics on bedside! |
Resting area where we enjoy our supper from the night market. |
TV available but i don't really use it. I means music and comic can fill all the time in this room! |
very warm writing table. |
private maps of HuaLien provided by YouZiJia! |
bathroom is big and clean. They're still dying the floor by fan when we check in. |
art work by the host. |
very nice but not really functional balcony :P |
I will just let the video say the words.
Before provide the B&B contact information, just to let you know...
1. The host couldn't speak good English, of course they welcome you but communication will be a problem.
1. The host couldn't speak good English, of course they welcome you but communication will be a problem.
2. They only provide ONE breakfast no matter how many day that you stay.
3. You have to be a dog lover because SanKiYa is staying indoor.
4. Be a quality guest, this is not the place for party but rest and enjoy cozy home feel.
Alright, if you can read Mandarin, this is their blog aka information site:
http://uzhome.pixnet.net/blog
http://uzhome.pixnet.net/blog
They do not have official website or website with other language except Mandarin.
So if you want to know more on the rooms, go into the website, and find the 2nd item of the side bar, which is rooms gallery.
If you really like the room, just write an email to XiaoLuo or YouZi to ask for available room, they can read English just not speak fluently.
Here is the email address: uulo.tw@yahoo.com.tw or if you can read Chinese, you can just left your comment in the website, they will reply you even faster.
Note that, you will need to pay 10% deposit via PayPal to secure the room.
