Cottage in the Welcome Bay

OK, continue my journey.

I reached Te Puke, the kiwi capitol of the world by 1st of April, the April Fool day.

Alright, i mentioned bout we met a kiwi constructor in Mt. Maunganui, when we made a wrong turn on the way to Te Puke.

So the fellow said, he needs someone work with his farm, and he willing to give us job and a place to stay. Of course we're happy, we haven't been the place yet already got a job and place wei! So we departed from Mt. Maunganui to address of the place in Te Puke.

We have been looking the location for an hour, and finally we got the place, and the place that fellow mentioned was 2 big contenants, with Africa and Indian guys staying there. The place and the people is freaking horrible and we only stay for 10 minutes, then we decided run away and not even pick up the call from the kiwi constructor.

But!

That time is about 7pm, the day was turning to night, and the town is getting silent, we gonna get a place to stay in this night.

Oh yea, by the way, Te Puke town is a very very small town, with only one main road and 2 rolls of shop, that's it.

But this town is full of backpackers, especially when the kiwi season is start, the farm and pack house do need a lot of seasonal working to work for them, so there are lot backpackers hostel around too.

And, as i said, we come in the peak season, we been asked 2 hostels and they were all full, and no place for the coming future, coz backpackers are not moving until the kiwi season ends.

Finally, someone we met in a backpackers hostel told us, if we want some place to stay for long time, like a house or flat, can go for a person, we got the number and called her up, she said she got a house but the place is not available in that night.

Oh damn, how good, i ready to spend the night in car, just the night is cool and we don't have any warm clothe or sleeping bag.

So finally, we spotted a backpackers hostel and just try our luck. There are a bed free in a mix dorm, and 2 beds free in a female dorm, cost us 26nzd per night. We took it, 2 nights, with very unreasonable price in such a small town.

Dirty Hall

The Blogger in the dorm

This backpackers hostel call Hairy Berry Backpackers, and this is the worst backpackers hostel i ever stay (Oh how good, i experienced both best and worst backpackers in NZ). Dirty, mess, noisy, cold and uncomfortable place.

But God is leading us, we met our current housemate there, and we asked about kiwi packhouse stuff there, well, in next post. This post only bout the house i'm staying right now (ok la i know i got lot of bullshit in the front la).

OK, remember the phone number i got bout a farm house for rent?

We're actually gave up at first, coz the place seem far, and we met 2 malaysian in backpackers and they told me they're goin to move in to a house, and there is a bedroom for 3 ladies available. But end up the room was taken and we have to extend our night stay in Hairy Berry.

What a sad! Then suddenly i remember of the number, just because i so desparate want to move out from the backpacker, and if we don't get a flat or house right now, we'll not getting any in the future, coz the season is start by early of April, and lot of backpakcers are coming.

So i text the owner, she even come and lead us to the farm house in the town.

And small accident happenend in between, i will blog it out later.

When i first saw this cottage, i love this cottage at the first sign.

We visited their house before go to the cottage, their house is on the top of the mountain. They see sun rise in the front of their house, and see sun set in the back balcony of their house. That is fantastic!

Then she brought us to the cottage, which her son was staying before he move to Australia. The cottage with an open kitchen with a lovely living room, 3 bedrooms with a toilet and bathroom, backyard and a lovely garden.

The Kiwi Capitol

Ok saya kepala sakit, i bet you guys stare at the photos longer a bit pun sama.

Ok la failure in editing the photos, i try to make the photos to more hmm... more hmmm.. beau..ti..ful?

Yea yea yea a failure. But i don't care coz i'm lazy to edit all over again, just let the photos to stimulate your eye balls just for once.

Alright as mentioned in the last post. The journey to Te Puke from Auckland.

We got Yoyo, and we travel with Yoyo in the 4th day i arrived in NZ.

Leaving from the city

Heading to the rural

Feed Yoyo before the journey

Mei Yee is sleeping..

Sun is driving..

I'm looking at the map!

I'm so nervous the day before we departed to Te Puke, coz wireless and free internet connection is not popular in NZ yet, you want to online and you have to pay, and its hell expensive. In the hostel, we bought 1 hour internet time with 3NZD, around 6RM.
Ok this is not the main point, the main point is, we're relay on the internet much, and sun and mei yee don't have any experience in backpacking in western country. I feel like i have the
responsibility to lead them and settle everything for them.

So again, the main point is, we cant find the way to Te Puke from Auckland!!!!

All we have is the map, hard copy one.

If you know me well, i cant read the map well, but anyway, i jsut have to try, i don't have other choice.

So i figured out a way to go onto the highway the night before depart.

And yea, i did it :D.

This is the best thing of backpacking, things come suddenly, and you just have to solve it, i just love the feeling when i achieve something like this.

And of course, NZ highway is pretty clear and simple, and, small.

They called the 2 lines road as "highway", which in Malaysia, we refer this as "kampung road".

Stop at the road side for lunch, cool campervan at front

The owner of the campervan bring doggies along!

Taking photo, placed my Xiao P on the dustbin.

And continue the journey

Its easier to found a cow than a human here.

From Auckland to Te Puke is 200km++ according to Google map, if i drive in Malaysia, its around 2 to 3 hours to reach, but in NZ, took us 4 ++ hours.
No kidding, we drive slow, coz NZ very strict on the traffic, i stopped by a traffic just for random check, and everyone is follow the law, follow the speed, and drive really safe, so we adapt the culture, and follow the speed.

We follow the State Highway 2 to the direction of Tauranga, before Tauranga turn to Te Puke, but we took wrong turn and the road leaded us to Mountain Maunganui, an attraction of NZ.

The seaside of Mt. Maunganui

I love this one :D

Sun and Mei Yee
