Cottage in the Welcome Bay

OK, continue my journey.

I reached Te Puke, the kiwi capitol of the world by 1st of April, the April Fool day.

Alright, i mentioned bout we met a kiwi constructor in Mt. Maunganui, when we made a wrong turn on the way to Te Puke.

So the fellow said, he needs someone work with his farm, and he willing to give us job and a place to stay. Of course we're happy, we haven't been the place yet already got a job and place wei! So we departed from Mt. Maunganui to address of the place in Te Puke.

We have been looking the location for an hour, and finally we got the place, and the place that fellow mentioned was 2 big contenants, with Africa and Indian guys staying there. The place and the people is freaking horrible and we only stay for 10 minutes, then we decided run away and not even pick up the call from the kiwi constructor.

But!

That time is about 7pm, the day was turning to night, and the town is getting silent, we gonna get a place to stay in this night.

Oh yea, by the way, Te Puke town is a very very small town, with only one main road and 2 rolls of shop, that's it.

But this town is full of backpackers, especially when the kiwi season is start, the farm and pack house do need a lot of seasonal working to work for them, so there are lot backpackers hostel around too.

And, as i said, we come in the peak season, we been asked 2 hostels and they were all full, and no place for the coming future, coz backpackers are not moving until the kiwi season ends.

Finally, someone we met in a backpackers hostel told us, if we want some place to stay for long time, like a house or flat, can go for a person, we got the number and called her up, she said she got a house but the place is not available in that night.

Oh damn, how good, i ready to spend the night in car, just the night is cool and we don't have any warm clothe or sleeping bag.

So finally, we spotted a backpackers hostel and just try our luck. There are a bed free in a mix dorm, and 2 beds free in a female dorm, cost us 26nzd per night. We took it, 2 nights, with very unreasonable price in such a small town.

This backpackers hostel call Hairy Berry Backpackers, and this is the worst backpackers hostel i ever stay (Oh how good, i experienced both best and worst backpackers in NZ). Dirty, mess, noisy, cold and uncomfortable place.

But God is leading us, we met our current housemate there, and we asked about kiwi packhouse stuff there, well, in next post. This post only bout the house i'm staying right now (ok la i know i got lot of bullshit in the front la).

OK, remember the phone number i got bout a farm house for rent?

We're actually gave up at first, coz the place seem far, and we met 2 malaysian in backpackers and they told me they're goin to move in to a house, and there is a bedroom for 3 ladies available. But end up the room was taken and we have to extend our night stay in Hairy Berry.

What a sad! Then suddenly i remember of the number, just because i so desparate want to move out from the backpacker, and if we don't get a flat or house right now, we'll not getting any in the future, coz the season is start by early of April, and lot of backpakcers are coming.

So i text the owner, she even come and lead us to the farm house in the town.

And small accident happenend in between, i will blog it out later.

When i first saw this cottage, i love this cottage at the first sign.

    1. Hi Sheryl, this cottage is located in welcome bay road, no. 879. Its difficult to tell you the accurate location, if you're in NZ, you should know why right? Just find the correct road and search the cottage.
